Ms. Emily McCraw
Emily McCraw has been teaching music for the past 12 years, beginning with private piano instruction and gradually expanding to include private vocal instruction, choral conducting with the Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy and as a substitute choir director in Washington County Schools, and music directing with the Barter Youth Academy.
In May, 2018, Emily graduated with a B.A. in Music Performance with concentrations in voice and piano from Emory & Henry College. Her 10+ years of choral experience includes singing with the Mountain Empire Children’s Choral Academy, Emory & Henry Concert and Chamber Choirs, various church choirs, and OAKE honors choirs.
Emily lives in Abingdon, VA and stays busy operating her piano and vocal studio while being actively involved in Abingdon Bible Church. Being a homeschool graduate, she enjoys investing in other homeschool students and families. She enjoys coffee, reading, hiking, making music with others, and being a supportive basketball and volleyball sister in her spare time.
"Ms. McCraw is a consummate professional who knows her craft well. She picks the right music for the group and places singers where they need to be. With a high-energy, positive personality, Emily is always encouraging. She quickly adapts to the reality on the ground focusing on the parts that need attention to dramatically improve the performance of the choir. Ms. McCraw takes a group of individuals and transforms them into a true choir that is listening to one another and harmonizing exceptionally well. "
