WORLD HISTORY PART 1 OF 3

This is the first in a 3-semester series which will take students on a fascinating and relevant guided tour through the world history.  Students will:

  • Study ancient history through 1500 AD

  • Read approximately 30 pages of material each week.

  • Complete take-home assignments, including written answers to questions, projects, and take-home tests.

  • Students should expect to spend at least 3.5 hours per week outside of class time preparing for this course.

  • Parents are encouraged to engage their students in conversation on what they are learning.   Parents should ensure that students complete the weekly reading assignments and take-home assignments.

  • There are no prerequisites for this course, but students must be capable of high school level work and be prepared for robust class discussions.

  • This course is worth 1/2 credit of High School Social Studies. Parents are responsible for managing the transcript for their student.  The teacher will communicate the end-of-course grade within 2 weeks of the final class date.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS

Students do NOT need to purchase a book.

Texts will be provided by Bristol Academy, on loan to each student for the duration of the class.   Students must treat the books with care so that future classes can also use them.

We will be using World History by Spielvogel, published by Glencoe.
