HABITS AND SKILLS FOR SUCCESS

  • The aim of this course is to develop effective habits and skills for personal and interpersonal success.  Properly applied, these habits and skills will enable students to reach their potential.

  • The course is largely based on Sean Covey’s internationally best-selling book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.  Notes will be provided in class from other resources such as Smart Talk for Achieving Your Potential, The Power of Habits, Do the Hard Things, and Mind Set.

  • Students are expected to complete assignments, some of which include self-reflection.   This course includes skill practice, team activities and completing a challenge project to maximize learning through application.  Guest instructors might lead topics.

  • This course is best suited for High School age level; and, perhaps mature Middle School age students.  13 is the recommended minimum age.  Students as old as 21 may also enroll. However, no dual enrollment or college credit can be offered for this class.

  • This should be categorized as an Elective on your student's transcript.  1/2 Credit. Parents are responsible for managing the transcript for their student.  The teacher will communicate the end-of-course grade within 2 weeks of the final class date.
