Acting I:
Introduction to Comedy

  • All 9th-12th grade students, as well as mature 8th-grade students, are welcome.  No theatrical experience is required.  The only requirement is a willingness to learn. 

​

  • Students will learn various techniques of comedic acting through the process of putting together a comedic play from start to finish.

​

  • Students of all experience levels will learn and practice acting techniques.

 

  • Each student will learn how to prepare a comedic monologue.

​

  • Students will perform in a comedy for friends and family at the end of the semester.

​​

  • Students will learn performing skills, as well as some basic design and directing skills, through putting together this performance. 

​

  • Students will be assigned weekly homework.  Many homework assignments will include the practice of materials learned and memorization. 

​​

  • Students will learn techniques to improve the effectiveness of their practice times and the accuracy of their memorization skills.

​

  • A public class demonstration at the end of the semester will occur outside of class hours.  Time and date TBD.

​

  •  Students earn 1/2 credit for a High School elective course. Parents are responsible for managing the transcript for their student.  The teacher will communicate the end-of-course grade within 2 weeks of the final class date.

​​

  • The class will meet on Tuesdays from 1:30 until 3:00. Cost is $150.    

​​

REQUIRED TEXTBOOKS​

  • No textbooks required. 

  • Printing fees are included in the cost of the class. The teacher will print and provide the necessary materials.

There are no extra fees for student materials, printing scripts, etc.  These costs will be about $10 per student but are included in the total cost of the class.
